It’s like Christmas has arrived early – even 40 years on – when all the deliveries of new autumn winter stock arrive in the shop! All the pieces I selected many months ago brought together in what I hope you’ll find to be fabulous collections. So with the new seasons, I thought I’d offer you a short synopsis on my take of this seasons trends, I hope you like it…
One of the much talked about trends for this season whether high end or high street is ‘elevated sportswear’, it’s schmoozed about as a revolution, but in reality STUFF customers have been luxuriating in this trend for years. If you’re looking for some of the best this season, I suggest you take a peek at Transit Par Such who always deliver with a little Italian twist and Marie Sixtine delivering with young French flair.
For Trousers, we are definitely going to see a more subtle move towards the wide leg trouser and bold prints and also look out for the one-shoulder dresses, tops adorned with tassels (Joseph Ribkoff) and leggings (Lysse)…styled right they can look stunning.
Autumn/Winter fabric favourites are definitely the return of the classic weaves, houndstooth, herringbone, plaid or what not try diamond intarsia. For those following high-fashion, Victoria Beckham managed as many grids as possible in a single look. It might not be what you decide on, but it’s all over the tailoring scene in Paris. So look no further than Majestic Filatures, Weekend Max Mara and Sylvia Heise whose collections have all seen strong tailored lines, flattering necklines hitting the spot with formal-informality. And a more casual version can be found in Baum Und Pferdgarten’s on-trend sports-relaxed trousers and tops or in the casual elegance of Crea Concept.
Those who are fans of animal prints will be comforted that this trend is still hot and the catwalks of Paris saw Givenchy and many others splicing all of their favourite animal motifs into single looks, so go for it this season, with prints from Majestic Filatures, Joseph Ribkoff and my early season favourite Dea Kudibal.
Ruffles and textures are also seeing a return for winter, whether these are dramatic, cosy or architectural nothing will be out of place. Joseph Ribkoff leads the way with ruffle collars and flair in their cuts and you’ll find the Crea Concept scrunchy knitted capes and cardi’s a clear contender to Gucci’s.
A new autumn season would be nothing without a good coat trend, and for AW16 it is, quite literally, the return of the mac. From iconic trenches with a twist from Rino & Pelle, to the practical getting very beautiful with Pret Pour Partir’s stunning yet sharp cuts and colours bubbling with French chic. And a Joseph Ribkoff that is on the way!
So those are some of the seasonal fashion trends, but truly it is more about what we feel great in, so don’t throw out those skinny jeans they’ll still look fabulous with Caroline cashmere or the chunky Crea Concept. And if you fear your wardrobe is just too very boho, just add a touch of tailoring to sharpen up the edges. With our help it doesn’t take much to get a few fresh new looks.
